CalrecAoIPproductssupportnetworkredundancy,meaningthateachdevicehaspairsofAandBAoIPnetworkconnections.
Itisnotessentialtohavebothconnected,howeveritisrecommendedinordertoprovideresiliencefornetworktraffic.
BothAandBconnectionscanbepassedoverthesamephysicalswitchinghardware,buttoprovidethebestredundancy,itis
recommendedthatAandBarepassedoverphysicallyseparatenetworks.
WithAoIPredundancybasedonST2022-7,thereisnoreal“primary”and“secondary”-devicesarefreetoreceiveaudiofromeitherA
orBnetworksseamlesslyonapacketbypacketbasis.TypeRCoreredundancyhoweverisacompletefailoversystem,onlyonecore
ofaredundantpairistrulyactiveatagiventime.Forcompleteredundancy,bothprimaryandsecondarycoresshouldeachconnectto
bothAandBaudionetworks.
SwitchPortQuantities
TypeRI/OboxeshavetwoA/Bpairsof1GbpsAoIPconnections.TypeRCorescanbesuppliedwithoutanyAoIPInterfacesfitted,
inwhichcasealthoughthetwopairsofAoIPconnectorsarefitted,thesewillnotbefunctional.OptionallyoneortwoAoIPInterfaces
maybefitted,thesecondcarddoublingtheCoreaudiocapacity.
Inadditiontoprovidingswitchportsforeachdevices’AudiooverIPconnections,atleastoneswitchportneedstobeavailableoneach
AoIPnetworkasawholeforaConnectservertocommunicatewithdevicesonthatnetwork.
Typically,ConnectwillbeservedbyaTypeRcoreviatheCoreSurfaceconnections.ItshouldinterfacewithbothAandBnetworksin
ordertoprovideredundantcommunicationswithalldevices.AbackupConnectservershouldalsobeconsidered,thoughhavingan
activeConnectserverwillnotbeanon-aircriticalrequirementformanyuserswhowillhaveafairlystaticnetworkconfiguration.Type
RcorescanbeconfiguredtoactasConnectservers,butonlyoneserverisneededpernetwork.
AtleastonespareadditionalAoIPnetworkswitchportshouldnormallyalsobeavailableoneachnetworkforSystemAdministration,to
allowengineersaccesstonetworkand3rdpartydeviceconfigurationanddiagnostics.
