LOWERING THE MIDGATE™
The Midgate can be lowered with the
rear window in place or while the
window is secured in the Midgate
storage pocket.
To lower the Midgate with the rear
window in place:
1. Fold the rear seats. (See Folding
the Rear Seats.)
2. Standing outside the vehicle, place
one hand against the Midgate to
prevent it from falling forward
unexpectedly. Turn the release
handle (located in the center of
the crossbar) clockwise, allowing
the Midgate to lower.
3. Lower the Midgate until it lies flat
against the folded seatbacks.
To lower the Midgate with the rear
window stored in the Midgate
window storage pocket:
1. Fold the rear seats. (See Folding
the Rear Seats.)
2. Remove and store the window.
(See Rear Window Removal and
Storage.)
3. Standing outside the vehicle, place
one hand against the crossbar to
prevent the Midgate from falling
forward unexpectedly. Turn the
release handle clockwise, allowing
the Midgate to lower.
With the window stored, the
entire crossbar will lower with the
Midgate. This is normal; however,
be prepared for the extra weight
of the crossbar.
4. Lower the Midgate until it lies flat
against the folded seatbacks.
To return the Midgate to its normal
position, raise the Midgate up with a
firm, swinging motion to ensure it
closes with enough force to latch it
securely.
