3. Fitting and Changing the Gas Cylinder

•  Before fitting the appliance to a gas cylinder, ensure that the appliance seal (E)(Fig. 2) is in place and in good condition.

Carry out this check each time you fit the appliance to a gas cylinder.

•  Blow out any dust from the cylinder opening to prevent possible blockage of the jet.

•  Screw the appliance onto the gas cylinder opening - screw hand-tight only.

•  Ensure that a complete gas seal has been made (check for the smell of gas around the connection joint). If you have to

check for a gas leak, do this outdoors. Do not check for leaks with a naked flame. Use warm soapy water only, applied to

the joints and connections of the appliance. Any leakage will show up as bubbles around the leakage area. If you are in

  doubt, contact your nearest stockist.

•  Gas cylinder valves should only be repaired by an authorised CADAC service centre or dealer.

4. Operating the Appliance

•  Always operate the appliance on a firm level surface.

•  To light the appliance, hold a flame to the burner, turn the gas control valve slowly in the direction of the “+” arrow until

  gas ignites.

•  After lighting, do not move the appliance around as liquid gas may entre the appliance from the gas cylinder, causing large

  yellow flames.

•  Adjust the size of the flame by turning the control valve. To increase the size of the flame, turn the control valve in the

direction of “+” and to decrease turn the control valve in the  direction of “-”.

•  After use, always ensure that the control valve is closed completely.

•  In the event of light back (ignition inside the burner (A) or mixing tube), immediately turn off the gas supply by closing

the control valve on the cylinder. After the flame is extinguished, follow the safety instructions given in sections 2, 3 and

  6. Re-light the appliance.

5. General Maintenance

  REPLACING A BLOCKED JET

Should the hole in the jet become blocked, this may result in a small flame or no flame at all. Do not attempt to clean the

jet with a pin or other such device as this may damage the orifice, which could make the appliance unsafe.

Ensure the cylinder valve is closed.

If the appliance was in use, it will be hot. Allow to cool before attempting any maintenance.

Unscrew the appliance from the gas cylinder.

Turn the appliance upside down so that the jet (F) (Fig.2) is visible. Unscrew the jet using a CADAC jet spanner or a

  suitable spanner.

Screw a new CADAC jet tightly into the appliance and ensure a gas tight seal.

  REPLACEMENT OF SEALS

Remove the rubber seal (E) without damaging the seat, replace it with a new seal making sure it is well seated.

Connect a gas cylinder following the directions in section 3 and the safety information in section 2.

6. Troubleshooting

A normal flame is blue and may have an orange or yellow tip. If the flame is completely yellow, it may be that the jet is

not securely fitted. Re-tighten to give a gas tight seal. An overfilled gas cylinder can also cause large yellow flames.

Cylinder should be returned to filling station and checked by weight.

Check that the air holes (D) in the adaptor are clear and free of obstructions (Fig. 2).

If the flame power drops or the gas will not light, check that the gas cylinder still contains gas (shake to hear the noise

made by liquid). If there is still gas, the jet may have become blocked or partially blocked.

8. Cleaning & Storage

To clean the appliance, simply wipe with a damp cloth using a little dishwashing liquid, if necessary.

Do NOT immerse in water as this will allow water to get into the burner and primary air holes causing the appliance to

  malfunction.

Do not use abrasive cleaners as this will cause permanent damage to the surface.

After cleaning, unscrew the appliance from the gas cylinder and store both in a cool dry place away from heat.

9. Spares & Accessories

Always use genuine CADAC spares and accessories as they have been designed to give optimum performance.
