CRBRIM-W/T
CHAPTER 4: Installation
4.2.2
Installing the CRBRIM-W/T into a Hub
To install a CRBRIM-W/T into a standalone hub that supports BRIM technology
and has an internal RJ45 Token Ring connection (e.g., MicroMMAC):
1.
Power-down your hub and remove the power cord.
2.
Disconnect all cables from the hub. Note the ports to which these cables are
attached (this step is optional).
Remove the hub chassis cover. Refer to your specific hub documentation for
instructions on removing the hub chassis cover.
3.
Remove the BRIM coverplate screws and the coverplate. (See Figure 4-1.)
4.
Place your BRIM behind the hub face plate. (See Figure 4-2.)
5.
Insert the connector pins of the BRIM into the hub’s mother board connector.
6.
Press down firmly on the back of the BRIM until the pins slide all the way
into the connector holes.
7.
Reinstall the faceplate mounting screws, and install the support post screws.
The CRBRIM-W/T and the host hub are sensitive to static
discharges. Ensure that you use a grounding strap and observe all
static precautions during this procedure. Failure to do so could
result in damage to the CRBRIM-W/T or the host hub.
!
CAUTION
Ensure that you remove the power cord and ONLY the screws
required to remove the chassis cover. Failure to comply could
result in an electric shock hazard.
The CRBRIM-W/T connector must fit securely on the mother board
connector.
