54.3 Adjusting the Pinion C-Line 6- or 9-gear shifting
system
Arthur / Antonia / Emil / Emilia – Pinion
Adjusting the cable tension
The cable tension is correctly adjusted when the ends of the shift cable
outer sheaths are in contact with the gearbox and twist grip without play
or pressure and the twist grip has approx. 2 mm twist play.
• Turn adjusting screws 1 and 2 (fig. 66 on the left) counterclockwise to
reduce the cable tension and thus the twist play.
• Turn adjusting screws 1 and 2 clockwise to increase the cable tension
and thus the twist play.
Adjusting the twist grip position
1. Turn the twist grip and shift from first to last gear.
2. Check that the gear number of the last gear is in line with the marking
(fig. 66 right).
• Turn adjusting screw 1 clockwise and adjusting screw 2 counterclock-
wise to move the gear number upwards.
• Turn adjusting screw 1 counterclockwise and adjusting screw 2
clockwise to move the gear number downwards.
3. Check the cable tension setting and twist grip position again and repeat
the procedures if necessary.

• The desired shifting process takes place immediately.
• All gears can be shifted with little effort.
• The display on the twist grip corresponds to the selected
gear.
Cleaning and care
!
WARNING
Risk of electric shock and short circuit!
Injury due to electric current during cleaning and maintenance work.
» Switch off the e-bike system.
» Pull the plug of the charger out of the socket.
» Cover the power supply contacts.
» Do not clean the components with running water or other liquids.
» Do not use high-pressure cleaners or steam jets for cleaning.
» Secure and park your e-bike so that unauthorised persons (especially
children) cannot access it.
!
CAUTION
Burn hazard!
Brakes, motor and battery can become very hot during operation.
» Always allow the components to cool down first before handling
them or handling them in the vicinity.
Bosch e-bike system
During regular cleaning, check the two cut-outs for the water
drain under the motor. Remove any coarse soiling to ensure
optimum water drainage.
Cleaning
• Wash the e-bike with water and some detergent or car shampoo and
use a soft brush or soft sponge. Do not use aggressive solvents such as
ethanol or acetone on belts, paintwork, plastics and leather which could
attack the material!
• The Gates Carbon Drive™ belt is also cleaned with water and does not
need to be lubricated.
• Then dry the e-bike with a soft cotton or microfibre cloth. Use different
cloths for sensitive surfaces (frame, fork, leather) and non-sensitive
areas (wheels, tyres, drive). This prevents unsightly scratches caused by
wiped-on dirt particles.
• Brake discs should come into contact with foaming cleaning agents as
little as possible. To remove brake dust or other residue from brake discs,
please use standard brake cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. Do not touch the
brake discs and brake pads with your bare hands, but wear disposable
gloves.
Winter operation
• If you cycle in winter with road salt, regularly remove salt caused by
spray water or snow from the e-bike to prevent corrosion.
Paintwork care
• We recommend treating painted surfaces once a year with automotive
wax or sealant (does not apply to matt paints).
• Make sure that waxes without abrasive additives are used for new
paints. Waxes with added abrasive should only be used to refresh older,
heavily weathered paints (does not apply to matt paints). Before you
decide on this measure, carry out a thorough cleaning. The original shine
often returns once the dirt is removed.
