26.2 Brake lever assignment
The left brake lever acts on the front brake, the right brake lever on the
rear brake (fig. 32).
32
• Familiarise yourself with the brake lever arrangement before starting to
cycle.
• Consult your specialist dealer if you wish to change the brake lever con-
figuration.
26.3 Use
• Use both brakes at the same time to achieve high deceleration values
and spread the wear over both brakes.
• Away from road traffic, make yourself familiar with the targeted dosed
application of the brakes, especially the front brake.
Dose both brakes in such a way that you achieve a high deceleration in
an emergency, but avoid blocking the wheels.
The brake system has an automatic compensation for the
wear of the brake pads. The pressure point of the brake
levers thus always remains the same.

Shifting system
!
WARNING
Risk of accident and injury!
Due to inattentiveness in road traffic.
» Familiarise yourself with the function of the shifting system.
» Only operate the shifting system and display if your attention to road
traffic is not restricted.
» Stop if you cannot operate the shifting system or the display safely,
e.g. in case of malfunctions.
» With hub shifting systems, the frictional connection is briefly
interrupted during the shifting process; in this case, reduce the
pedalling force when shifting.
27.1 Enviolo TR - AUTOMATiQ eShift
Heinrich / Hannah – Enviolo
The Enviolo TR AUTOMATiQ eShift shifts gears automatically.
The optimal gear for the respective speed is automatically set via a
predefined desired pedalling frequency.
• The desired cadence can be changed during the ride using the control
unit. To do this, press the selection key.
• If the system operation is unreliable or faulty, a calibration of the shifting
system is necessary. To perform the calibration, go to >> Settings >> My
E-Bike >> e-Shift >> Calibration. Crank the pedals until the display shows
"Calibration successful".
27.2 Alfine 8-gear hub shifting system
Heinrich / Hannah – Alfine
NOTE
Risk of damage!
Damage to the hub shifting system due to incorrect operation.
» Do not pedal with force when changing gears.
» Do not pedal backwards when shifting.
» Downshift in time before going uphill.
» Only shift in acceleration-free/load-free phases.
The Shimano Alfine hub gears are shifted with the levers on the right side
of the handlebars. The rear of the two levers can be operated in both
directions (fig. 33).
• To downshift a gear, press the front shift lever 1 with your thumb until
it engages for the first time.
• To upshift a gear, press the rear shift lever 2
with your thumb or pull it
with your index finger.

26.4 Breaking in disc brakes
Before first use, the pressure point of the brake levers may still be
somewhat spongy.
• Tighten both brake levers 5-10 times at a standstill so that a defined
pressure point is built up.
Disc brakes in new condition and after the replacement of brake discs and
brake pads do not yet have the final braking performance because the
surfaces of brake discs and brake pads are not yet been broken in with
multiple brake applications.
• Break in the disc brakes away from road traffic and observe the brake
lever assignment.
• Perform several braking operations from full speed to a standstill.
The manufacturer specifies 50 such brake applications as a reference
value.
