DETECTOR INSTALLATION

Heat detectors are intended to be complementary to smoke detectors and should be placed

in areas where the smoke alarm cannot be used.

If your home has only one floor, for optimum protection a smoke detector should be placed

in the corridor between the room and the living room, installing it as close as possible to the

areas where it is spent most of the time ensuring that the alarm can be heard when the

rooms are occupied. (See figure 1)

If your home has several floors, to achieve a minimum protection, a detector must be

installed at the bottom of the stairs as well as one at each landing of the home. This

includes basements, but excludes other useful spaces and unfurnished attics.

Note: for high protection, smoke detectors should be installed in every room (except

kitchens, bathrooms and garages). Heat detectors should be located in kitchens, garages,

boiler rooms, etc. within 5.3 m of potential heat sources. Do not install a heat alarm in the

bathroom, toilets or any other room where the de-detector can be activated by steam or

condensation.

INSTALLATION OF THE DETECTOR ON A SLOPING CEILING

On irregularly shaped, sloped or peaked ceilings, install the smoke detector 900 mm from

the highest point measured horizontally because that "dead air" zone can prevent the

detector from working properly.

Places where NOT to install the detector:

Places where the temperature can fall below 4ºC or rise above 44ºC.

Wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, toilets where the relative humidity can exceed

90%.

Near a decorative object, door, lighting fixture, window frame, etc. that can prevent

smoke or heat from entering the alarm.

Next to or directly over hot components, such as radiators or wall ventilation ducts that may

change the direction of air currents.

In dusty and dirty environments, such as workshops.

Place the unit at least 1.5 m (5 ft) away and place the wiring at least 1 m (3 ft) away from

fluorescent lamps where electrical "noise" and/or flickering can affect the unit. Do not

place wiring on the same circuit as fluorescent lights and/or dimmers.

Do not install in insect-infested areas. Insects and contamination on the heat alarm

sensor may increase its response time.

HEAT ALARM OPERATION

Once the heat alarm has been installed, a red LED light will flash approximately once a

minute during normal operation.

When the heat detector detects the temperature rise beyond the set temperature, the unit

will emit a loud 85dB alarm sound. During the alarm state, the red LED light will flash

rapidly.

Installation

Mark the appropriate location on the wall or ceiling, according to the two holes in the

detector's bracket.

Drill two 5mm diameter holes in the ceiling or wall, then insert the two plastic plugs into

the holes.

Secure the bracket to the wall with the screws.

Mount the detector body on the bracket by turning it counter-clockwise until it is secure.

After installing or replacing the battery, reinstall the detector. Test the alarm using the

test button and check that the red LED flashes every 30 seconds.

Test the alarm using the test button. The alarm will emit 3 short beeps in a row, stop for

2 seconds and repeat the 3 beeps, and so on.

CHECKING THE CORRECT OPERATION OF THE DETECTOR

It is recommended that you test the heat detector once a week to ensure that the

detector is working properly.

Press and hold the test button for approximately 3 seconds. A loud pulsing alarm will

sound to indicate proper operation. During the alarm state, the light indicator will flash

rapidly.

DETECTOR MAINTENANCE

If the heat detector emits a short beep once a minute, this indicates that the battery is at

the end of its life and must be replaced immediately. This low battery warning will sound

for at least 7 days. The battery should last at least 1 year in normal operation mode of the

detector.

If the red indicator LED does not flash every minute, replace the battery.

Clean the detector at least once every six months to prevent dust accumulation. This can

be done by using a hoover with the brush attachment. Gently clean around the front grill

and sides.
