Fig. 65:
Satellite Target Angles
Target Antenna Elevation Angle (Target Ant. EL)
The Target Ant. EL angle is a calculated value based on GPS and satellite longitude information
taking into consideration antenna mechanical calibrations.
Target Elevation (Target EL)
The Target Elevation Angle is the theoretically calculated EL look angle value based on the
Antenna’s GPS location and Satellite Longitude.
Target Antenna Azimuth Angle (Target Ant. AZ)
This shows the antenna mechanical AZ angles in reference to the mechanical limits at 0° & ±
180° degrees. It correlates the theoretical calculated azimuth target angle (0° to 360°) onto the
antenna mechanical coordinates of 0° to ± 180°.
Target Azimuth (Target AZ)
The Target Azimuth Angle is a theoretical calculated value based on the Antenna’s GPS location
and Satellite Longitude to locate the desired Satellite
.
This range is between 0 to 360 degrees.
Target Antenna Polarization Angle (Target Ant. PL)
Calculated Polarization angle taking into consideration the mechanical travel limits, satellite
polarity, OMT position; satellite offset and PL offset angle that the polarizer must be positioned.
The mechanical travel limit is from 0° to ± 90°. Polarization is at 0° when OMT is vertical.
