SMOKE 2050
Selecting the right location to install the alarm
We recommend installing at least one alarm
(depending on the size of the room) in all
escape routes, staircases, sitting rooms,
bedrooms, offices and children’s rooms.
Heat can sometimes produce a so-called “heat
cushion” (e.g. in corners, narrow places, under
sloping ceilings, etc.) which then spreads out
and prevents smoke from rising. This means
that on occasion smoke does not enter the
measuring chamber in the smoke alarm, so the
alarm is not set off.
For this reason the following instructions must
be adhered to:
•
Always install the smoke alarm
•
On the ceiling
•
as close to the centre of the room
as possible
•
at least 50 cm from each wall, object, etc.
•
not under a pointed ceiling, where a heat
cushion can build up; at least 50 cm
lower down
