Traction Drive Cable
1. Remove the gas from the gas tank. Stand the snow thrower up on the
front end of the auger housing.
WARNING: Drain the gasoline outdoors, away from fire
or flame.
2. Loosen the bolts (A
A, Figure 28) on each side of the bottom panel (B
B).
3. Remove the bottom panel.
4. Slide the cable boot (A
A, Figure 29) off the cable adjustment bracket
(B
B).
5. Push the bottom of the traction drive cable (C
C) through the cable
adjustment bracket until the “Z” hook (D
D) can be removed.
6. Remove the “Z” hook from the cable adjustment bracket. Move the “Z”
hook down to the next adjustment hole.
7. Pull the traction drive cable up through the cable adjustment bracket.
8. Put the cable boot over the cable adjustment bracket.
9. To check the adjustment, depress the drive lever and check the length
of the drive spring (A
A, Figure 30). In correct adjustment, the length
of the drive spring is a minimum 3 inches (76 mm) and a maximum
3-3/8 inches (85 mm).
10. Install the bottom panel (B
B, Figure 28).
11. Tighten the bolts (A
A) on each side of the bottom panel.
