3.3 Console Safety
WARNING: To minimize shock hazard the spectrometer console must be connected to an
electrical ground as noted in the section above.
The electronics cabinet is equipped with a three-conductor AC power cable. Only use power
cables approved by BRUKER or compliant with IEC safety standards.
Because of its weight, the console should only be moved by authorized personnel wearing
appropriate safety shoes. TwoBay consoles should only be moved by two persons.
3.3.1 Normal Shutoff
A Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in the back of the console is used to power up the
spectrometer in a controlled way.
It is possible to power up/down the AVANCE by a software instruction from TopSpin.
The PDU takes care that all units are powered up/down in the correct order and that high
power units are switched on with suitable time delays in order to limit the inrush current of the
system.

Shutoff (or restart) Procedure
• Start the pdudisp software tool, this can be started from:
– The status bar.
– The console.
– By selecting Manage | Spectrometer .
