2.2 Introduction
This procedure for 2238 Mediator can be photocopied and used as either a hardtop
record for the service department, or as documentation to be included with an in-
strument when returned to a customer.
A 9600 system can also be used for these tests, saving time and providing automatic
report generation.
The result and validity of the following Checking Procedure is closely related to the
calibration status of the special tools and equipment. It is recommended to only use
instrumentation calibrated to international standards.
The Checking Procedure is intended to be performed on a fully assembled instru-
ment, except that Microphone Type 4188 in some of the checks must be removed, or
for the noise check replaced by an equivalent electrical impedance.
2.2.1 Results Not Achieved
If the expected result is not achieved when a certain check is done, the defective
part must be identified and replaced using the FRP scheme and/or spare parts list
(see
section 3.5 )
2.2.2 Special Tools and Equipment
See section 1.13.3 .
2.2.3 Preparation
Please refer to User Manual Publication BB 1119 for basic information about the oper-
ation of the 2238 Mediator.
2.3 Checking Procedure
To run the following procedures, Type 2238 must first be in “Basic SLM” mode. Press
to power on, then to get the Application Menu. Select
Basic SLM
.
BEFORE YOU START! Safeguard the factory - installed microphone settings
Press , then select
Calibration
. Press to move down to the Microphone
(Micr.) field, and press until
Unspec
appears in the display. Press to close.
Doing this saves your original settings. When you are finished with the checking
procedures, you can go back and reset to the original settings.
