1. On Model 417 move tailwheel arm back from its shipping position toward the height adjustment
brackets. Install tailwheel stem into fork holder tube, placing collar over stem and inserting roll
key through collar and stem. Install height adjustment pin through arm and bracket.
Assembly for
models 415D and416D and 417 is almost identical to that of the 415 and 416; the 415D, 416D and
the 417 have twin tail wheels and require this step to be completed twice.
2. Raise A-frame (A) to vertical position. Remove pin (B) from Mast Stop at the top of A-frame brace
and mount through A-frame brace and install pin in top of A-frame.
3. Raise the cutter with a tractor and properly adjust the tailwheel height. Next, reinstall lynch pins
into height adjustment pin.
Note: Proper cutting height is covered on page 20.
4. Tighten all bolts securely.
