Connecting Brooktrout PCI Analog Fax Cards
to DID Telephone Service
After you install the Brooktrout PCI fax card in the platform and connected an external power
supply, connect the DID ports to DID telephone lines using the following procedure. If you
need more information about DID service and how to order it, refer to “Appendix B:
Telephone Service Options” in the
TR114 PCI Analog Hardware Guide
. The Brooktrout PCI
fax card ports connect to DID service as shown in Table 3.

WARNING!
The TR114+P4C contains both loop start and DID ports. Do
not
connect a DID line to loop start ports 0 and 1 on this card.
Doing
so can damage the fax card.
To connect the DID ports on a Brooktrout fax linecard to DID telephone lines:
1. Locate the cable assembly supplied with the fax card. The assembly is split at one end into
four cables labeled for ports or channels 0, 1, 2, and 3.
2. Attach the end of the cable with the RJ-45 plug to the RJ-45 connector on the back of the
fax card. Be sure to connect the cable you want to use for port 0 to the card assigned
channel 0 by the RightFax BoardServer.
IMPORTANT
The TR114+P4C card contains both loop start and DID ports. Connect
only
cables 2 and 3 on the cable assembly to
only
DID telephone jacks.
The cables are labeled in red to distinguish them from loop start cables.
3. Plug the RJ-11 plugs at the other end into the wall-mounted DID telephone jacks.
The DID ports are now connected to the DID lines.
