Safety
Cycling is fun and should certainly stay fun,
therefore your safety is very important to us.
Our bikes are designed specifically so you
can drive around carefree. For your own
safety and those of others, it is important that
you take the following safety regulations into
account.
Before and during cycling:
■
Wear suitable shoes that have good grip.
With wet weather, the pedals can become
slippery, make sure you are extra careful
during these conditions!
■
Do not wear clothing that will most likely
end up in moving or rotating parts of your
bike, such as a dangling scarf or flowing
skirt.
■
We recommend that you wear a helmet
while cycling, especially when driving an
e-bike. Be advised that in some countries
it is obligatory to wear a helmet while
cycling. Take that into account when going
abroad with your bike.
■
Check the tire pressure regularly: on the tire
you will find the amount of pressure men-
tioned that is suitable for your tire. Having
the right tire pressure makes cycling much
more comfortable and it keeps the tires in
good condition.
■
Check the brakes regularly: make sure that
all the cables are still intact and there are
no loose components.
■
Check the handles regularly: are they still
properly tightened to the handlebar? Loose
handles can lead to unfortunate accidents.
■
Does your bike have hand brakes? When
braking, use both brakes, never use the
front brake only. By using just the front bra-
ke, you risk falling over.
■
Never touch the brake pads or discs during
or just after braking: they can still be very
hot from hitting the brakes hard.
■
Is it raining? Keep in mind that your bike
has a longer braking distance! This also
applies to snow, frost and/or mud on the
road.
Other safety measures
■
Adding accessories to your bike; before
installing any component or accessory,
make sure that it is compatible with your
bicycle by checking it with your Brinckers
dealer. Accessories that are not compati-
ble with your bike can cause damage.
■
When assembling the accessories, make
sure that the compontents don’t get dama-
ged. This can be avoided by placing soft
material between the accessory and point
of attachment.
■
In the unlikely event that your bike has
fallen and a part is distorted, never bend it
back in its original state! It may already be
so damaged that you break it by bending
it back. In cases like this, always contact
your Brinckers dealer!
