3. For optimal protection, mount at least one
smoke detector in every room and every
hallway.
4. Smoke detectors must always be mounted on
the ceiling, as close to the centre of the room as
possible. According to DIN EN 14676, a distance
of at least 0.5 m must be maintained from all
furnishings on the ceiling and from the walls.
If the smoke detector is installed in an attic,
it must be installed, at a roof slope of

detector may be mounted both to the side

Installation sites to avoid
Do not install smoke detectors:
1. Do not install smoke detectors in areas prone to
drafts, e.g. near air intakes for air conditioners
and ventilation.
2. In bathrooms, shower rooms or in rooms where
the temperature exceeds 39° C or falls below 0° C.
3. Do not install in the peak of a room since smoke-
free air can collect there in the event of a fire.
4. Less than 0.5 m distance from the wall if it is
mounted on the ceiling.
