18.5. WORD CLOCK PHASE ALIGNMENT TO VIDEO
Whenever mathematically possible, the DCD-8 will achieve accurate alignment between the
vertical sync of the incoming video and the rising edge of the output wordclock. Accuracy is
per the original AES requirement of 5% of the sample clock period. This phase adjustment
begins immediately after intial lock has been achieved. Please allow up to 30 seconds for
this state to be realized.
The table below indicates when alignment will occur between the input video “reference
point” (vertical sync) and the output wordclock rising edge.

19. Optional cards for the DCD-8
The DCD-8 has provisions for an optional card with 4 BNC connectors. Installation is very
simple and can be performed on site by a qualified technician
19.1. VSG-4 VIDEO SYNC GENERATOR (HD & SD)
The VSG-4 can operate as a master video sync generator or gen-locked to any of the DCD-8
references. Up to 4 rates can be generated simultaneously, 2 HD and 2 SD.
19.2. CX-4 WORD CLOCK EXPANSION
The CX-4 provides 4 additional word clock outputs via its 4 BNC connectors. These 2 addi-
tional pairs (outputs 9 - 12) are identical to output pair 7 & 8.
