This Fluoro Registration Kit can be used to register 3D images
acquired with a Ziehm Vision FD Vario 3D C-arm.

1. Preparing the Fluorostars

Tightly screw the reflective marker spheres by hand onto each
attachment pin of the Fluorostar.

Determine which two of the three interfaces on the C-arm head
are best oriented towards the camera in the 3D scan start
position, for attachment of the Fluorostars.

2. Attaching the Fluorostars

Gently push back the safety clip and open the lever of the

Fluorostar, attach the star onto the interface of the C-arm head
and close the lever. Repeat the process for the second
Fluorostar.

3. Draping:

Place the drape over the Fluoro Registration Kit and the C-arm

head according to the instructions provided by the C-arm and
drape manufacturers. To ensure that the Fluoro Registration Kit
is fully visible to the camera, prevent the drape from wrinkling

by securing it to the Fluorostar using a sterile rubber band on
the rear of the Fluorostar.

Warning: When draping the C-arm and Fluoro Registration
Kit, the drape should be as smooth as possible. The
reflective marker spheres should not be covered by
wrinkles or non-transparent parts of the drape, such as
seams or stickers.

Warning: Do not attempt to mount the Fluorostar on top of
the drape. It must be mounted before draping. Do not
sterilize the Fluorostars. Use only the approved drape:
Ziehm Art. No. 13034 / Heisig Art. No. 34132 with sterile
rubber bands (Ziehm Art. No. 131160). The 12” drape
should only be used if all three reference geometries are
mounted on the C-arm (Ziehm Art. No. 13031 / Heisig Art.
No. 34172 with sterile rubber bands (Ziehm Art. No.
131160)).

Warning: Plan the setup of the OR prior to surgery. The
camera must have an unobstructed view of the reflective
marker spheres on the Fluorostars and instruments to be
able to navigate. Markers must be completely visible to the
camera and must not be damaged, masked, moistened or
contaminated, e.g. with blood.

Warning: The reflective marker spheres must be
exchanged if the surface becomes damaged or
contaminated. Only use new disposable reflective marker
spheres, and do not re-use them.

Warning: The Fluoro Registration Kit is a highly accurate
and sensitive medical device. Handle it with extreme care.
If you drop or otherwise damage it, return it immediately to
BrainLAB for testing, replacement or repair. Failure to do
so may lead to serious patient injury.

Warning: Do not rotate the C-arm with the mounted Fluoro
Registration Kit under the OR-table.

Warning: Always apply the brakes when the Fluorostars are
attached. If the brakes cannot be applied, secure the C-
arm manually.

Warning: The Fluorostars must be removed from the C-arm
after use. Place Fluorostars in the corresponding storage
case to avoid damage and malfunction.

Warning: Always check that the Fluorostars have been
attached properly and that the connection is rigid and
precisely fitted.

Warning: The device shall be clean before use. The
attachment pins of the shifting markers must be thoroughly
cleaned to avoid incorrect navigation and patient injury.
