Step 4. Carefu ll y cut a path in the insu l ation from the b l ower tube towards the f l ame sensor (shown be l ow) . Pay c l ose
attention to not cut any wires . F o l d the insu l ation back to expose the f l ame sensor .
Step 5 . Disconnect wire l ead from f l ame sensor .
Step 6 . Remove the 2 sensor mounting screws (magnetic
tip, l ong reach Phi ll ips screw driver) and remove
f l ame sensor & gasket from transition base
f l ange .
Step 7 . Remove any residua l gasket materia l from
transition base f l ange .
Step 9 . Reconnect f l ame sensor wire .
Step 10 . F o l d insu l ation back into p l ace . Be sure no wires are under
the insu l ation that cou l d come in contact with burner f l ange .
Step 8 . I nsta ll new f l ame sensor with new gasket provided
using screws from step 6 . Arrange f l ame sensor with
hook towards burner .
Step 1 . Position main power switch to “O FF ”
Step 2 . Disconnect (unp l ug) water heater
from 120 vo l t power source .
Step 3 . Un -l atch & remove surround cover
from top of heater .

120 volt potential exposure. Isolate the
appliance and reconfirm power is
disconnected using a multi-meter.

Step 11 . Restore 120 vo l t power supp l y to water heater and confirm proper operation fo ll owing the
l ighting instructions on the l ighting instruction l abe l or the l ighting instructions l ocated in
the insta ll ation and operating instruction manua l.
Step 12 . Rep l ace surround cover on top of
water heater .
