HOW TO USE YOUR GOURMET PANINI PRESS AND GRILL
The
Gourmet
Panini
Press
and
Grill
can
be
used
for
grilling
Panini
bread,
meat,
fish
and
vegetables
such
as
tomatoes.
CAUTION
:
Do
not
use
this
product
to
cook
or
defrost
frozen
food.
All
food
must
be
completely
defrosted
before
cooking/grilling.
NOTE
:
During
the
first
few
uses
of
this
product,
it
may
produce
some
smoke.
This
is
normal
and
will
subside
with
further
use.
1.
Before
using
the
Gourmet
Panini
Press
and
Grill
for
the
first
time,
wipe
the
outside
of
the
appliance
with
a
dry
cotton
cloth.
2.
Wash
the
grilling
plates
and
the
Drip
Tray
thoroughly
by
hand
or
in
the
dishwasher.
3.
Dry
the
grilling
plates
thoroughly
before
re-inserting
into
the
appliance.
4.
Make
sure
to
replace
the
Drip
Tray.
5.
Open
the
unit
by
lifting
the
Handle
up.
6.
You
may
grease
the
plates
with
butter,
margarine
or
cooking
fat.
Since
the
appliance
has
a
non-
stick
coated
surface,
the
use
of
butter
or
oil
is
optional.
7.
Close
the
Plates
and
switch
the
unit
on
by
plugging
it
into
a
standard
electrical
outlet.
Verify
that
the
RED
Power
Indicator
Light
illuminates.
WARNING:
The
Grilling
Plates
and
metal
surfaces
of
the
unit
will
become
extremely
hot
when
in
use.
To
avoid
a
burn
hazard,
wear
heat-resistant
mitts
or
gloves
and
touch
only
the
cool-touch
Handle.
8.
After
the
unit
preheats
for
approximately
5
minutes,
the
GREEN
Ready
Indicator
Light
will
illuminate,
indicating
that
the
Gourmet
Panini
Press
and
Grill
is
ready
for
use.
9.
Use
the
Handle
to
lift
the
Upper
Grilling
Plate.
10.
Place
food
on
the
Lower
Grilling
Plate
using
wooden
or
plastic
heat-resistant
utensils.
CAUTION:
Do
not
use
metal
utensils
on
this
product,
as
they
will
scratch
and
damage
the
non-
stick
coating
on
the
Grilling
Plates.
11.
The
unit
is
fitted
with
a
floating
hinge
system
which
allows
it
to
adjust
automatically
to
the
thickness
of
the
food
placed
on
the
lower
Grilling
Plate.
12.
Use
the
Handle
to
lower
and
rest
the
Upper
Grilling
Plate
on
top
of
the
food
without
using
pressure.
NOTES::
•
Food
must
be
completely
defrosted
before
cooking/grilling.
•
The
cooking/grilling
time
for
different
food
depends
on
the
type,
thickness
and
volume
of
the
food,
as
well
as
personal
preference.
•
Use
the
Thermostat
Control
Knob
to
select
cooking/grilling
temperature
from
the
lowest
temperature
setting
(MIN)
to
the
highest
temperature
setting
(MAX).
•
The
GREEN
Ready
Indicator
Light
will
turn
on
and
off
throughout
the
cooking/grilling
cycle
to
maintain
the
selected
cooking
temperature.
