In the following unusual riding
conditions, the BMW Motorrad
DTC may be turned off automati-
cally.
Unusual riding conditions:
Driving on the rear wheel
(Wheelie) for a longer period.
Spinning the rear wheel with
the front wheel brake applied
and the motorcycle stationary
(Burn Out).
Heating up on an auxiliary
stand at idle speed or with gear
engaged.
If the front wheel loses con-
tact with the ground under ex-
treme acceleration, the ASC or
DTC function reduces the engine
torque in the
RAIN ROAD
, and
DYNAMIC
riding modes until the
front wheel makes contact with
the ground again.
In the
DYNA PRO
setting of the
riding mode
DYNAMIC PRO
, the
front wheel lift-off detection is
deactivated.
BMW Motorrad recommends
that you respond to this condi-
tion by twisting back the throttle
grip somewhat to return to stable
dynamic operating conditions as
quickly as possible.
On a slippery surface, the throttle
grip should never be suddenly
twisted back completely unless
the clutch is disengaged at the
same time. The engine braking
torque can cause the rear wheel
to slip, resulting in an unstable
driving state. This case cannot
be controlled by BMW Motorrad
DTC.
Dynamic Damping
Control (DDC)
How does DDC work?
with Dynamic Damping Control
(DDC)
OE
The Dynamic Damping Control
(DDC) is a semi-active chassis
system which automatically re-
acts to driving maneuvers and
the condition of the road surface
and correctly adjusts the damp-
ing for the respective situation.
Using the leveling sensor, the
motions of the rear spring strut
are recorded. Depending on the
determined direction of move-
ment and speed and on the rid-
ing mode selected, the electrical
EDC valve is opened or closed.
Damping on the front wheel de-
pends on the mode as well, how-
ever the spring travel is not mea-
sured.
Independent of the selected rid-
ing mode, DDC can be adjusted
