The designers of the BMW K 1200 S have understood that riders
come in all shapes and sizes. That is why they decided to offer a
choice of two seat heights – an 820-mm standard version (with a
rider step length of 1,810 mm) and an optional 790-mm low version
(with a rider step length of 1,750 mm).
Every rider knows that the wider the seat, especially towards the
front, the harder it is to reach the
oor with your feet – whatever the
seat height. The seat of the BMW K 1200 S has been optimised in
terms of step length, so it is markedly slimmer towards the front,
giving more freedom of movement for sports-style riding, while
broader at the rear, for more comfort.
The seating position of the BMW K 1200 S suits large and small
riders alike. The ergonomic triangle formed by the footrest, seat and
handlebar is designed to ensure maximum comfort, even when adopt-
ing a sports riding stance. The slim lines of the BMW K 1200 S also
allow for an especially narrow knee posture, improving rider control
and contact with the bike. The superior ergonomics of the BMW
K 1200 S are just another example of how it is pushing back the
boundaries of sports riding.

Are you sitting comfortably? Then let us begin.
Rider step length
The latest thinking in ergonomics has been
applied to the BMW K 1200 S.
The design takes into account both step length (A)
and seat height (B),
for maximum comfort and control.
