Electronic immobilizer is
active
General warning light shows
yellow.
Key appears on the display.
Possible cause:
The radio key being used is not
authorized for starting, or com-
munication between the radio
key and engine electronics is dis-
rupted.
Remove other motorcycle keys
from the radio key ring.
Using emergency key.
Have the defective motorcycle
key replaced, preferably by an
authorized BMW Motorrad re-
tailer.
Radio key outside
reception range
Indicator lamp, radio key
not within reception range
lights up.
Possible cause:
Communication between the ra-
dio key and the engine electron-
ics is disrupted.
Check battery in radio key.
Replace battery of radio key
(
45).
Use reserve key for further
driving.
If radio key is lost (
44).
Should the warning symbol ap-
pear while driving, keep calm.
Driving can be continued; the
engine will not switch off.
Have the defective radio key
replaced by an authorized
BMW Motorrad retailer.
Replace battery of radio
key
The battery symbol is dis-
played.
Possible cause:
The battery for the radio key
is no longer charged to full ca-
pacity. Operation of the radio
key is only ensured for a lim-
ited time.
Replace battery of radio key
(
45).
Fuel down to reserve
Reserve-fuel symbol lights
up.
Fuel-level reading turns yellow.
Fuel shortage can lead to
engine misfires. This can
result in unexpected engine de-
activation (accident hazard) and
damage to the catalytic con-
verter.
Do not drive to the extent that
