Engine oil
Checking engine oil level
The engine can seize if
the oil level is low, and
this can lead to accidents.
Always make sure that the oil
level is correct.
The oil level varies with
the temperature of the
oil.The higher the tempera-
ture, the higher the oil level in
the oil tank. Check the engine
oil level immediately after a
longer journey.
Make sure the ground is
level and firm and hold the
motorcycle at operating
temperature vertically.
with OE Center stand:
Make sure ground is level
and firm and place motorcy-
cle at operating temperature
on its center stand.
Allow engine to idle until the
fan starts up, then allow to
continue running for an ad-
ditional minute.
Wipe area around oil fill lo-
cation clean.
Remove cap from oil fill lo-
cation

by turning counter-
clockwise.
Clean oil dipstick

with a
dry cloth
Place oil dipstick on oil fill
location.
Remove oil dipstick and
read off oil level.
Specified level of en-
gine oil
between MIN and MAX
markings on oil dipstick
If the oil level is below the
MIN mark:
Top up engine oil.
