DLC50 Control Panel Installation and Operation Manual | Doc. No. 6051439500 Rev. A
Broadcast Microwave Services

Primary – When two DLC50 units are connected together, the “primary” is the unit that connects
directly to the microwave system equipment. (See installation section.)
Secondary – When two DLC50 units are connected together, the “secondary” is the unit that is not
connected to any other equipment and would be installed in a secondary operating position (possibly
rear seat). It functions as a remote terminal and mimics the primary DLC50.
Remote Serial – This setting allows an external computer to communicate with the DLC50 to control
DLC50 functions and transmitter and receiver functions, as well as monitor all status. The external
computer will use the BMS DLC50 Remote Client serial protocol to communicate with the DLC50.
Pass-Thru TX – Used for Transmitter maintenance on COM2. Passes COM0 data through to COM2.
The data rate is set by the protocol for the configured transmitter. Note – if receiver and transmitter are
sharing COM2, then use “Pass-Thru TX” for maintenance on the receiver. Some levels of maintenance
may require only one device on the bus at a time.
Pass-Thru RX – Used for Receiver Maintenance on COM3. Passes COM0 data through to COM3. The
data rate is set my the COM3 configuration. Note – if receiver and transmitter are sharing COM2, then
use Pass-Thru TX for maintenance on the receiver. Some levels of maintenance may require only one
device on the bus at a time.

USB Flash Functions
Configuration>USB Functions
The USB port may be used for loading and saving configurations, and presets. It may also be used for
loading TX and RX channel plans, and software updates. To use the USB port, plug in a USB flash
drive into the USB socket on the front panel. Go to the configuration menu group, and select USB
Functions, then select the specific operation desired.
USB loading operations will immediately access the specified file type selected and begin loading.
Loading software will take a couple of minutes. The Alarm LED will flash with USB activity and the
results will be displayed when completed. Other operations will complete almost instantly. If the correct
file type or filename is not found, a “no file found” error will display. USB saving operations will save the
file almost instantly.
NOTE: The DLC50 will only access files in the root directory of the USB drive.
USB operations use the following filenames:
Software update
DLCSOFT.hex
DLC Presets file
DLCPSET.dat
TX channel Plan file
DLCTXPLN.bin
RX Channel Plan file
DLCRXPLN.bin
DLC Configuration file
DLCCNFG.dat
Filenames for any files to be loaded by the DLC50 must first be changed to match the above filenames
for the type of file used. The same channel plan file may be used for both the transmit and receive
channel plan, but they must be loaded separately and must be changed to the correct filename before
loading. Contact BMS Customer Service department for Software updates or assistance with channel
plans. Configuration files can be loaded and saved. If it is desired to archive different configuration files,
rename them for easy identification, then copy just the desired configuration onto the flash drive and
rename before loading.
