4.5 Download process
4.5.1 NAND Flash Download
LIFE 8 download software to phone by USB mode. First ,open the download tool and
configuration the software then press the start button, connect the phone and computer by
usb cable, press the volume down key don’t loosen, power supply the phone or insert the
battery. You can see the tool is downloading, loosen the volume key is OK.
Most of the Phone download failed are due to the false solder or short solder. If can’t
downloaded, please use a power supply to connect the Phone, observe the current , If it is
very high, it means the VBAT is shorted with GND, please cut the power and find out the
short point. If the current is higher than the normal current, new memory (empty) about
30mA when it power on, if the phone downloaded already, power on current is about
120mA. If it is too high, it means that some of the LDOs’ output is abnormal. So the
VDD(2.8V), AVDD(2.8V), VDDMEM(1.8V) should be checked and measured. If the
current is ok, press power key or short the power key test point to GND, observe the current,
about 30mA/120mA(no software in memory or downloaded) is OK, LDOs’ output is OK
also, you’d better to check the volume down key and the connection between PC and phone,
include USB jack, download cable and USB circuit, if no found problem in connection,
rework or change CPU(MT6592) at last.
If the power on current is very low or not exists, please mainly check the MT6592 ’s
soldering, and 26MHz clock, this clock is necessary in downloading process, can be
measured by the oscillograph.
LCD Part
Most of the problems in this part represent of LCD as white screen, black screen, no
display, lack of color and snow screen.
The check steps as below:
1. White screen, that means LCD initial fail, backlight is OK, first check the connection of
the soldering of the ZIF connector pins which include LCD data and power supply pins, No
need to check backlight pins and driver IC.
2. If Black screen or no displayed, check the backlight first, if it wrong, then check driver
IC output and driver IC enable. If backlight is OK, check the connection of the soldering of
the ZIF connector pins which include LCD data and power supply pins. Refer to white
screen repair steps.
3. Lack of color
