TAIL LIGHT GUARD FOR 06-ON HONDA RIDGELINE
PARTS LIST:
PROCEDURE:
1. REMOVE CONTENTS FROM BOX. VERIFY ALL PARTS ARE PRESENT. READ INSTRUCTIONS
CAREFULLY BEFORE STARTING INSTALLATION. DRILLING IS REQUIRED. ASSISTANCE IS
RECOMMENDED.
2.
Lower the rear tail gate. Starting on the passenger side, remove the two hex bolts holding the taillight housing to
the vehicle,
(Figure 1)
. The tail light housing is held in place by two pins on the outer edge of the housing,
(Figure 2)
. Hold the tail light housing firmly in both hands and pull it straight back from the body.
IMPORTANT:
Do not use any tools to pry the tail light housing from the vehicle as damage to the plastic housing or vehicle
could occur. This is the same procedure required to change a taillight bulb in the assembly. For more info see
owner’s manual on replacing taillight bulbs.
3.
Locate the passenger side Tail Light Guard and select one of the Support Brackets. Attach the Support Bracket to
the Taillight Guard with (1) 4-.70mm x 15mm Phillips Head Screw, (1) 4mm Flat Washer and (1) 4mm Lock
Washer. Snug but do not tighten the screw at this time.
4.
Carefully place the assembled Taillight Guard into position and line up the mounting tabs on the Taillight Guard
with the two holes for the tail light assembly. Line up the Support Bracket with the edge of the body. With
assistance, hold the Taillight Guard in place while slowly closing the tailgate to check for clearance and alignment.
NOTE:
If the Mounting Tabs or Support Brackets do not fit properly, they can easily be adjusted with a pair of
pliers. If you’re doing an adjustment, cover the Mounting Tab or Support Bracket to protect the finish.
5.
Once satisfied with the alignment, mark the Support Bracket mounting location. Remove the Support Bracket from
the Taillight Guard and attach only the Support Bracket to the vehicle using an electric drill and an appropriate
Phillips bit to drive in (1) ST4*19mm Self Tapping Screw and (1) 4mm Flat Washer.
IMPORTANT:
Do not over
tighten the Self Tapping Screw.
6.
Gently push the tail light housing back into place taking care to properly line up all mounting hardware.
7.
Line up the two mounting tabs on the Taillight Guard with the factory mounts for the taillight housing and attach
the Guard to the vehicle with the factory hardware removed in Step 2. Snug the hardware but do not tighten at
this time.
8.
Push the Taillight Guard up to the Support Bracket and reattach with the (1) 4-.70mm x 15mm Phillips Head
Screw, (1) 4mm Flat Washer and (1) 4mm Lock Washer. With assistance, slowly close the rear tailgate to check
the fit and clearance of the Tail Light Guard.
The two Mounting Tabs should fit tightly to the edge of the taillight
housing.
NOTE:
See Step 4 for alignment and adjustment information.
9.
Once all Tabs and Brackets are properly adjusted for fit, check for tailgate clearance and alignment once more
and then tighten all hardware.
10.
Repeat steps 2-9 to install the driver side Taillight Guard.
11.
Do periodic inspections to the installation to make sure that all hardware is secure and tight.

As with any exterior trim piece, automated car washes are not recommended and may damage the
