C.2 Telephone-Interface Connectors
The telephone interface signals are terminated in
an 8-pin tie trunk terminal block on the back panel
(see Figure C-2). This connector is fitted with a
female plug.
C.3 Connecting the Telephone-Interface Cable
To connect to the telephone interface (PBX), see
Figure C-3 (
page 70
) and proceed as follows:
WARNING!
Remove the power plug from the power
socket BEFORE you make any connec-
tions to the telephone interface.
CAUTION!
Wiring to the tie trunk terminal block
must be carried out by a qualified
technician. Wires used for this pur-
pose must be UL type CM, 22/24 AWG,
8-conductor.
1. Remove the plug from the 8-pin terminal block.
2. Use a cable with bare-wire leads (not included).
Insert each cable lead into the cutout at the
front of the plug and secure it with a small flat-
head screwdriver at the top. We recommend
that you color-code the cable leads for easy
identification.
3. Insert the plug, which now includes the cable
leads, in the terminal block.
4. After you make the connection, install the
connector cover: Insert the right tab of the
cover in the retaining slot of the voice/fax
interface module back panel; then secure it on
the left side with a Phillips-head screw.
