Hardware Installation
SNMP Media Converters can be installed as either managed or
unmanaged devices. Hardware installation information for both is
included in this chapter. If the SNMP Media Converter is to be a
managed device, refer to the SNMP Software Installation Manual
(included with an SNMP Master Module) for information regarding
software installation.
Configuring SNMP Manageable Modules
Before installation, SNMP Manageable Modules may need to be
configured for various features. For information regarding configuring
SNMP Manageable Modules, refer to the manual included with the
module.
Installing an SNMP Manageable Module
To install an SNMP Manageable Module, remove the blank bracket
covering the slot where the module is to be installed by removing the
screws on the outside edges of the bracket. Slide the module into the
chassis, via the cardguides, until the module is seated securely in the
connector. Secure the module to the chassis by tightening the
thumbscrews.

NOTE: SNMP Manageable Modules and SNMP Telco Modules may
be safely installed or removed with power on (i.e. “hot-
swappable”).
Installing a Power Supply Module in an SNMP Media Converter
SNMP Telco Chassis and SNMP 6-Slot Chassis are shipped from the
factory with one power supply module installed. You can install a
second power supply module at a later date if required.
