The LH8050A Mixed-Media Fiber Hub provides connectivity between multiple and
various Ethernet speeds and media types in twisted pair and fiber from a single chassis device,
and includes support for the following IEEE standards; 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 10BASE-
FL, and 100BASE-FX (and 100BASE-SX when available).
For 10 and 100Mbps “fiber-to-the-desktop” applications where the user needs a
complete selection of Ethernet copper and fiber media types, the LH8050A easily integrates a
mixed-media dual-speed network. In addition to mixed-media support, the LH8050A stacks
with LH8016A-C Hubs to provide additional low cost RJ-45 ports.
The LH8050A Fiber Hub will function properly when the network installation follows IEEE
standards for the various 10Mbs and 100Mbps Ethernet media types. Each media type has
different installation limitations based on IEEE 802.3 standards, and those specifications should
be adhered to for all applications. A summary of each Ethernet media type and the
corresponding LH8050A PM(s) is presented here:

The LH8050A Port Modules are field configurable. This (and the stacking feature)
provides for easy expansion of the network, and it provides flexibility to adapt to new fiber port
connector types as technology changes. The flexibility of the LH8050A makes it the choice for
applications that require a flexible and adaptable 10/100 hub.
