The converter features DIP switches to activate both
local and remote loopback diagnostic test functions. Use
local loopback to see if the copper segment is connected
properly. Use the remote loopback to see if the fiber
segment is connected properly. See Figure 3-2.

Turning DIP-switch 6 ON enables local loopback.
Turning DIP-switch 7 ON enables remote loopback.

Make sure that the cables are connected properly before
getting started. Conduct either the local or remote test,
but not both at the same time. Follow the steps listed on
the next few pages to perform the diagnostic tests.
