Electrical connection
Connect the protection devices according to the
schematic wiring diagrams (see chapter Schematic wir-
ing diagrams OS.(A)74.-EX, page 26).
Observe the manufacturer’s documentation of the com-
ponents used!
Compare the specifications on the name plates with the
specifications of the existing power supply system.
Connect the device only if the specifications on the
name plates match the existing power supply system.
5.1
Compressor motor
Use exclusively a motor which is suitable for the use in
explosive atmospheres!
Select motor size using BITZER Software. Choose
cables, fuses and overflow relays according to motor
current.
Recommended setting: Rated operating c10%
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to welding of the contacts!
Incorrectly dimensioned contacts may lead to a
welding of the motor contactors.
Dimension the motor contactors correctly and
provide protection against exceeding the max-
imum cycling rate (see Operating Instructions
SB-500)!
DANGER
Risk of explosion when the rotors come into
contact with housing parts!
In the case of an abnormal operating mode -
e.g. lack of oil - it cannot be excluded that the
rotors touch the housing parts.
Protect the compressor motor by means of a
thermal overload relay!
5.2
High and low pressure limiter (HP and LP)
The compressor must not be operated under vacuum.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to an incorrectly connec-
ted pressure limiter!
Only connect high and low pressure limiters (HP
and LP) suitable for a potentially explosive at-
mosphere together with section switch amplifi-
ers.
DANGER
Risk of explosion due to the entry of foreign gas!
When the system is operated outside the ad-
missible application limits, with an insufficient oil
cooling, and/or in the vacuum range, foreign gas
may enter the system.
Do not operate the system in the vacuum range,
only use it within the admissible application lim-
its and protect it by means of suitable safety
devices!
Use sufficiently dimensioned heat exchangers!
