Setting up the ID File
Once you have installed the software on your PC, you will need to set up a
communications port ID file. The software will use the information in this file to
communicate with the Veriprox reader(s) connected to the Host Port.
You can create and edit the file using the “Notebook” program provided with
Microsoft Windows.
Access the file, UnitIDs.dat located in the Install Directory . The default path is:
C:\Program Files\BioID\Veriprox\UnitIDs.dat
ID File Format
The file format is as follows:
Line 1: Name the comm port on the PC
Line 2: List the IDs for all units on this port. Separate each ID by a space.
Line 3: Type a % to end the comm port.
Example:

Notice how the line for the Unit IDs for Comm 1 wraps; the software will
continue to read the line until the %. A space should appear after each
colon (:) and between each reader ID number.
Once you have completed editing the file, save it under the same name
and to the same location.
Note:
It is essential that this file be located in the
same directory as the Veriprox Administration
software.
The default UnitIDs.dat file looks like this:
COM#: 1
UnitIDs: 0
%
Thus the software will initialize expecting to find only one reader on the
host port with an assigned ID number of “0”. There will be no
communication problems if there are other readers on the network unless
those readers are also set to ID “0”.
