Operating Manual for Pneumatic Straight/Angle Grinder

Read the necessary working speed [rpm]
on the left-hand axis by drawing a
horizontal line to it from the intersection.
Fig. 13:
Selecting the speed
Example:
Determine the working speed for hardmetal burrs with
a cut diameter of 10 mm at a selected cutting speed
of v = 900 m/min!
Draw a vertical line from cut diameter 10 mm to the
intersection with the characteristic curve v = 900
m/min (indicated by a circle).
Starting from this intersection, a horizontal line to the
vertical axis on the speed scale indicates the speed
required is approx. 28,600 rpm.
Maintenance
Disconnect the machine from the
compressed air network before
starting any maintenance work!
Maintenance unit
In order to ensure that the BIAX pneumatic
straight/angle
grinder
works
properly,
the
maintenance unit or the filter pressure reducer should
be checked at regular intervals. First of all,
depressurise
the
system!
Remove
all
the
condensation water collected and, if necessary in
case of oil-lubricated grinders, refill BIAX special oil
(for further information on BIAX special oil, please
refer to our catalogue).
This prevents damage to the ball bearings, motor
parts and rotor being caused by dirt or particles of
rust.
To do this,
remove the condensation and
check the operating pressure (max. 6 bar) at
regular intervals.
Checking the idling speed
Always check the idling speed
without any tools installed (grinding
tools, hardmetal burr, ...)!
The idling speed of the grinder must be checked
every 20 operating hours. Use a new tachometer to
do this. Always check the idling speed without any
grinding tools attached. In the case of an incorrect
idling speed, please send the grinder to our head
office or one of our authorised service centres.
When the operating pressure is 6 bar, the nominal
speed without a grinding tool must not be exceeded.
Other maintenance
Each time before starting work, subject the tool
(grinding tool, hardmetal burr, etc.) to a visual
inspection. Please replace worn grinding tools
immediately, otherwise there is a risk of injury.
Check
spindles,
threads
and
clamping devices regularly with
regard to wear and tolerances!
The speed and vibration must be checked after all
maintenance and repair work.
If defects are detected, return the unit to our head
office or one of our authorised service centres for
repair.
Protect the grinder, particularly the compressed air
connection and operating elements, from dust and
dirt.
