How to connect the HBC 1 base station
1. Connect the headphone to the headphone socket
of the HBC 1 base station.

to the very left). Adjust the volume
after putting on the headphone.
.
•
Headzone
®
Home version WITH head tracker:
Never connect more than one headphone (via Y adapters) to the headphone socket, as
the function of the head tracker system could be affected.
2.
Headzone
®
Home version WITH head tracker:
Connect the HR 1 head tracking receiver to the socket
of the HBC 1 base station.
Note:
The position between the head tracker with the ultrasonic exciters on the DT 880 HT
headphone and the HR 1 head tracking receiver must always be within sight of each other
without any obstacles! The maximum distance between head tracker and head tracking
receiver is 4 metres. Obstacles such as plants cause dropouts.
3. Connect a DVD/Blu-ray player, CD player, game console or PC sound card to the S/PDIF input
or
. Stereo signals as well as encoded surround signals such as Dolby Digital or DTS
®
can
be transmitted via the digital S/PDIF connection. The format is automatically recognised by
the HBC 1 base station and indicated by the illuminating, appropriate “Input Format” LED
on the front.
Use the supplied optical cable to connect the optical S/PDIF input
or the supplied coaxial
cable with an impedance of 75 ohms, if you use the coaxial S/PDIF input
. The maximum
length is 10 metres, if you would like to use a longer coaxial cable.
4. Switch the “Input select” switch
to the “Optical” or “Coaxial” position, depending on the
S/PDIF input to which the audio source has been connected.
The signal of the selected input is also available at the optical S/PDIF output
and can be
routed to other devices.
5. Connect the supplied power supply to the DC socket
.
Important:
•
Connecting any power supply other than the beyerdynamic device included can
damage the HBC 1 base station.
•
If you want to unplug the power supply from the HBC 1 base station, turn off the base
station with the standby button
first. The appropriate LED will illuminate red.
6. The optical S/PDIF output
in the TOSLINK format is used to route the digital audio signal
to other devices (e.g. another HBC 1 base station). The connection always provides the
identical signal of the selected S/PDIF input. Depending on the position of the “Input select”
switch
the optical S/PDIF output provides the signal of the optical
or the coaxial S/PDIF
input
.
