spindle.
Screw on the clamping nut
15
and tighten it with
the two-pin spanner
17
.
Pay attention that the collar of the clamping nut
15
faces away from the machine, as shown in the fig-
ure.
After mounting the diamond cup wheel and
before switching on, check that the diamond
cup wheel is correctly mounted and that it can
turn freely. Make sure that the diamond cup
wheel does not graze against the guard and
extraction hood or other parts.
Changing a Diamond Cup Wheel
When transporting the machine, the diamond cup
wheel
14
should be removed to avoid damage to it.
Do not touch diamond cup wheels before they
have cooled.
Diamond cup wheels become very
hot while working.
Press the spindle lock button

spindle.
Actuate the spindle lock button only when the
grinder spindle is at a standstill.
Otherwise, the
machine may become damaged.

Quick-clamping Nut
For convenient changing of grinding tools without
the use of additional tools, you can use the quick-
clamping nut
16
instead of the clamping nut
15
.
Use only a flawless, undamaged quick-clamp-
ing nut 16.
When screwing on, pay attention that the side
of the quick-clamping nut 16 with printing
does not face the diamond cutting disc; the ar-
row must point to the index mark 18.
Lock the grinder spin-

en the quick-clamping
nut, firmly turn the dia-

clockwise direction.
A properly attached,
undamaged quick-
clamping nut can be
loosened by hand
when turning the
knurled ring in anti-
clockwise direction.
Never loosen a tight quick-
clamping nut with pliers. Always use the two-pin
spanner 17.
Dust Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing
coatings, some wood types, minerals and metal
can be harmful to one’s health. Touching or
breathing-in the dust can cause allergic reac-
tions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the
user or bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is con-
sidered carcinogenic, especially in connection
with wood-treatment additives (chromate, wood
preservative). Materials containing asbestos may
only be worked by specialists.
– To achieve a high level of dust extraction, use
the dust extractor for mineral dust (dust class
M) together with this power tool.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working
place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class res-
pirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country
for the materials to be worked.
Prevent dust accumulation at the workplace.
Dust can easily ignite.
The vacuum cleaner must be approved for the ex-
traction of masonry dust. Berner provides suitable
vacuum cleaners.
Place a vacuum hose
10
(accessory) onto the vac-
uum connection
8
. Connect the vacuum hose
10
with a vacuum cleaner (accessory).
Notes for the Use of Concrete Grinders
Please observe the following notes in order to re-
duce the dust emissions occurring while working.
– Use only combinations of diamond cup wheel,
concrete grinder with fitted guard, extraction
hood and dust class M vacuum cleaner recom-
mended by Berner. Other combinations may
lead to worse collection and separation of dust.
– Observe the operating instructions of the vacu-
um cleaner for maintenance and cleaning of the
vacuum cleaner, including the filter. Empty dust
collection containers immediately once full.
Clean the filters of the vacuum cleaner regularly
and always insert the filters completely into the
vacuum cleaner.
– Only use vacuum hoses as intended for by Bern-
er. Do not manipulate the vacuum hose. When
rocks or chunks of stone/masonry are drawn in-
to the vacuum hose, cease work and clean the
vacuum hose immediately. Prevent the vacuum
hose from being bent or creased.
– Use the concrete grinder only as intended for.
– Observe the general requirements for construc-
tion sites.
– Provide for good ventilation.
– Ensure that the work area is clear. When working
for extended periods of time, the vacuum clean-
er must be able to move along freely or at the
right time.
