Troubleshooting 9
Symptom
Possible Cause(s)
Corrective Action
Motor will not run.
Disconnect switch is off.
Be sure switch is on.
Fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped.
Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker.
Power cord not plugged in.
Plug into 115 Volt grounded outlet.
“
” button not pressed.
Press “
” button.
Fan cover pushed on too far, trapping fan blades.
Remove fan cover and reposition correctly to free
up fan.
Motor runs hot and overload kicks off or motor does
not run and only hums.
Voltage is too low.
Check voltage being supplied to pump - install
heavier wiring if wire size is too small.
Impeller not moving freely.
Check that impeller moves freely and is not
clogged.
Motor runs but no water is delivered.*
* Stop pump (press “
” button), then check for
flowing inlet water before looking for other
causes. Shut off incoming water, unscrew priming
plug and see if water is present. If present, replace
priming plug and turn on incoming water.
Discharge valve closed.
Open valve.
Air leaks.
Check all connections on inlet line with shaving
cream.
Impeller is jammed or plugged.
Clean impeller.
Pipes are frozen.
Thaw pipes. Bury pipes below frost line. Heat pit or
pump house.
Pump does not deliver water to full capacity.
Steel piping (if used) is corroded or limed, causing
excess friction.
Replace with plastic or copper pipe where possible,
otherwise with new pipe.
Piping is too small in size.
Re- plumb using pipe of the same size as inlet and
discharge ports on pump.
Pump not being supplied with enough water.
Enlarge inlet pipe; check well pump system.
Low voltage.
Make sure outlet voltage is 115VAC.
Pump delivers water but does not shut off or pump
cycles too frequently.
Faucets have been left open.
Close faucets.
Pipes leak.
Check connections.
Defective pump controller.
Contact customer service.
Air spurts from faucets.
Leak in inlet piping.
Inlet pipe is sucking air. Check joints for leaks with
shaving cream.
Display is blank.
If LINE LED off, there is no power to the pump.
Check plug and circuit breaker.
If LINE LED is ON, display may be overheated or
broken.
Display will resume operation when display cools.
HYDRAULIC Alarm LED ON.
Display indicates [
DRY RUN
] and pump is not
operating.
Check inlet connections and repair any air or water
leaks. Reset pump.
ELECTRIC Alarm LED ON.
Display indicates [
ELECTRIC FAULT
] and pump is
not operating.
Motor is overheated (thermal overload tripped).
Unplug pump and let it cool down. Do not wrap
or cover the pump with anything.
Power supply is not within ±10% of 115V.
Impeller is blocked.
Unplug pump and find/correct blockage.
