2.2.4.2 Crank adjustment (when running in a new product)
After using the new product for several days (intensive use) or for up to two weeks (normal use) after
purchase, the mounting bolts with which the left and right cranks are mounted must be tightened again
(see illustration below). Note that they must be ‘hand tightened’, that is to say with a tightening moment
of 30 Nm at the maximum (It is a normal effect that after a short period of use, as a result of the force
applied to the pedals, the crank assembly settles). A secondary effect of this is that a certain amount of
play can occur, which can lead to damage to the crank and the crank axle. This play can be taken up by
tightening the bolts further.
2.2.4.3 Different types of hubs
Brake freewheel (BF-R)
The brake freewheel works like a back-pedalling brake and has a neutral. The brake freehweel can be put
in reverse. The tension of the chain has to be checked every six months.
Brake freewheel BF-3
The gears should be tuned at least every six months. This is be done in the following way.
Remove the back hood to see little black box at the end of the cable. With this box the cable length can
be adjusted. With the handle turned to the third gear, the chain has the correct tension if the middle can
be pushed 2mm downwards. Check if the outside cable is far enough into the bushes at both ends and
whether there are no kinks in the cable. In order to tighten the cable (for example when first gear is not
working) the end of the chain is pushed further into the box. In order to loosen the cable (for example if
the third gear is not working) the lip at the end of the box is pushed in to release the chain.
2.2.5 Plastic
The plastic must be checked regularly for damage and breakage. In the case of
breakage you must immediately replace the part concerned with an original part, in order to guarantee
the safety of the user.
