Now that our pulleys have been tightened up, we will look at
our gears. We need to make sure that we have them aligned
and cleaned properly.
From top to bottom we have:
1.
Top Cutter Gear
2.
Bottom Cutter Gear
3.
Idler Gear assembly
Each gear should sit flush with each other. Be sure to take a
look the small Idler Gear assembly for any build up, as this may
cause the motor to skip and restart itself.
If they are not you may have some deformation and/or bending on the body side
plates. This may happen if the door was accidentally closed without putting the cutter
blade in the upright position.
The cutter may not be closed properly.
This may happen if the Top Assembly
has slid just out of place enough to
interfere with the cutter blade
assembly. Slide the assembly towards
the door frame to be sure it is out of
the way. If there is a lot of play with
this top assembly, be sure to check that
the Roller bearings have not worn or
that the retaining rings are not missing.
Also check that the bands on the Top
Roller assembly are not worn or
missing.
