Firmware update
Over the configuration page of the integrated web server a firmware update of the two microcontrollers is possible, which are
used in this BusHead.
Important note!
Please observe the following description of the firmware updates exactly since otherwise the
BusHead cannot function properly any longer.
1.
Disconnect the BusHead from all connections to LioN-Link I/O-modules by unscrewing the M12 connecting plugs of
the two lines.
2.
Disconnect also the connection to your control unit and other PROFINET IO devices.
Only the computer which is intended to accomplish the update should be connected to the BusHead.
3.
Perform a power reset at the BusHead by interrupting the power supply for a short time.
However, after starting the update it has to be ensured that the power supply cannot be interrupted any more.
The two green LEDs U
S1
and U
S2
must light permanently.
4.
Make sure that the BusHead has a static IP address, or assign an IP address using a tool that supports the DCP protocol
of PROFINET, such as
STEP7
.
5.
In your browser, change to the configuration page of the integrated web server and select the file for the firmware
update by clicking on the button
Search
. The file for the microcontroller SAM7 is called “0940ESL601_SAM7.bin“, the
file name for the ERTEC controller is “0940ESL601_ERTEC.bin“. The file names may not be changed.
6.
By clicking on the button
"Apply!"
the firmware file is transferred to the BusHead. Due to the size of the firmware for
the ERTEC chip this process can take several seconds. The transmission time of the SAM7 firmware is much shorter. An
indication of the transfer by an LED indicator does not take place.
7.
After completing the transfer of the firmware file, the BusHead stores internally the file in the non-volatile memory.
This process is indicated by a special LED display. During an ERTEC update only the DIA LED flashes. When updating the
SAM7, the LED indicators US1 and US2 flash additionally.
8.
Upon completion of the update, the red DIA LED stops flashing and the two LED indicators U
S1
and U
S2
switch back to
solid green again. The browser displays the message
"LioN-Link Firmware Update successfully completed"
.
9.
Upon completion of the update, a power reset of BusHead is necessary. For this purpose, the power supply has to be
interrupted shortly.
Caution: Before a power reset, the status of the LED indicators DIA, U
S1
and U
S2
has to be observed. It is
necessary to wait until the DIA-LED is off and the LED indicators US1 and US2 are solid green again.
10.
If an update should also be available for the second microcontroller, then the steps 5 to 9 with the appropriate file are
to be repeated.
11.
After completion of all updates the connection with the LioN-Link I/O-modules, the control unit and further PROFINET
IO devices can be restored. Note that the BusHead first detects the actual configuration of LioN-Link I/O-modules
after a power reset.
