Summary
The NV9640A has a “multi-page” user interface. Each of its 30 buttons (illuminated in various
colors and having 3 lines of text) can either (1) execute a function or (2) select another button
page (i.e., present another set of functions). The set of button pages is not limited in size. Panel
operators navigate to different button pages to perform different tasks.
We say that the user interface is tree-structured (or hierarchical) although it is not always a “tree”
in the strictest sense. (You can construct a tree-like graph of the button pages.)
The NV9640A, in addition, has an 8×42 alphanumeric display that presents the status of opera-
tions as they occur. An NV9640A panel should be configured with at least one ‘Page Up’ button
and at least one ‘Page Down’ button with which the operator can scroll the display.
At the rear of the panel, a DB25 connector supports 8 tally inputs and 4 tally outputs.
NV9000-SE Utilities is the software with which to configure the NV9640A. Figure 4-1, following,
shows the default NV9640A panel configuration page from NV9000-SE Utilities.
The NV9640A and NV9640 use the same configurations. When you configure an NV9640A in
NV9000-SE Utilities, select “NV9640” for the panel type.
