Connection
The MADI-SWITCH provides a very intuitive front
panel interface that allows the user to select any one
of the incoming MADI streams to feed the rear panel
outputs.
First, connect the incoming MADI sources to the
input connectors located on the front panel (whether
fibre, coax or both - depending on model purchased).
Connect the loop-through outputs so that the MADI
streams can continue to other down-stream MADI
devices.
Connect the MADI outputs on the rear panel
(note that both coaxial and fibre outputs operate
simultaneously) to your MADI monitor (or other)
device.
See “Example Connection Diagram” on page 11
for an example of how to connect the MADI-SWITCH
to a BM-A2-64MADI monitor unit.
Source Selection
Source selection is very straight forward:
The front panel mounted toggle switch (marked SEL)
allows you to scroll through the front panel MADI
ports in sequential order, enabling you to select
the one you wish to route to the rear panel MADI
outputs.
The SEL switch has a momentary action when
pushed down, which advances the port selection.
The active port is indicated by the illumination of the
SEL LED (located adjacent to each front panel port).
Also on the front panel, again located by each port,
is an LED marked SIG. This LED illuminates if the
input is connected and active at the source (for
example; the transmitter end of the fibre). It is a
useful indicator to tell you that at least the other end
of the fibre is a) plugged in and b) the transmitter is
powered.
Each MADI input on the front panel has an active
MADI loop-through output port adjacent to it. This is
active all the time the unit is powered, irrespective
of the SEL position.
Two bi-colour LEDs indicate the status of the PSUs.
Green indicates all is good, and red indicates that
one has an issue (such as not being connected to
the mains for example).
Finally, a traditional scribble strip across the front
panel allows you to write down details of each
incoming stream. You can remove the plastic cover
by sliding it left or right. This will reveal a strip of
paper on which you can write down the details of
each incoming MADI stream. Once written, replace
the clear plastic cover.
