Estimating Required Workspace Dimensions
The required workspace dimensions depend on the model, placement, and number of Cytomat
devices integrated with the Biomek NX
P
instrument. Refer to the section titled Dimensions for
Integrated Devices in CHAPTER 4, Preparing Other Integrated Devices , to estimate the workspace
required for the Cytomat device and any other integrated devices.
Setting Up Optical Tables
A Cytomat 6001 incubator or microplate hotel must be placed on an optical table when integrated
with a Biomek NX
P
instrument. The Biomek NX
P
instrument must also be placed on an optical table
for integration. Prior to uncrating Cytomat devices, optical table crate(s) should be taken to the
laboratory, unpacked, and the table(s) assembled at the proper workspace area.
• A Cytomat 6001 should be placed on a 1 m x 1 m optical table (refer to Setting Up a 1 m x 1 m
Optical Table for the Cytomat 6001 ).
• The Biomek NX
P
instrument and the microplate hotel should each be placed on a .6 m x .9 m
optical table (refer to Setting Up a .6 m x .9 m Optical Table for the Biomek NXP Instrument and
the Microplate Hotel ).
NOTE
Only Cytomat 6001 incubators and microplate hotels require placement on optical tables. The
Cytomat 2C workstation kit includes a custom-sized table that is set up by the Beckman Coulter Field
Service Engineer.
Unpacking an Optical Table
CAUTION
The optical table is heavy and cumbersome. To avoid injury, two people are
needed to unpack the optical table from the shipping crate.
To unpack an optical table from the shipping crate:

Remove the top panel of the crate with a claw hammer and set it aside.
