6.4.5 Configuring Realtime Ethernet
The Ethernet interface (X101/X102) of the CX8190 Embedded PC supports the Realtime Ethernet protocol
and can be configured as a master. The Realtime Ethernet protocol is configured in TwinCAT.
Following the configuration you can scan for Bus Couplers or EtherCAT couplers and operate them as
decentralized nodes. There is fundamentally no limit to the number of Bus Couplers or EtherCAT couplers
that can be connected to the CX8190 Embedded PC. However, it is recommended to limit the number to 10
nodes.
Requirements:
• The CX8190 Embedded PC has been selected as the target system.
Configure Realtime Ethernet as follows:
1. In the tree view on the left, right-click on Devices .
2. Click on Add New Item in the context menu.
The Insert Device window appears.
3. Click on Ethernet in the tree view and select Real Time Ethernet Protocol (BK90xx, AX2000-B900) .
4. Click on RT-Ethernet Protocol in the tree list.
