SETTING UP YOUR FENCING
• Drive the posts into the ground at 3-4 metre intervals around the vegetable
garden you want to protect from animals.
• Apply the electric tape, passing it through the posts’ insulators. On the first
and last posts, you should ideally use a connection for tape to attach the
tape to the insulator. Select the appropriate height for the size of the animals
likely to approach. For deer, you will need a third line.
• Place the “Warning: electric fence” sign on your fence if it is next to a public
road.
THE KIT INCLUDES
• 1 HOBBY SB230 dual energizer
• 1 roll white and green electric tape,
12mm x 200m
• 10 plain plastic posts, 55 cm
• 1 earth rod
• 2 insulation kits with anchor and handle
• 8 ring insulators
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
VEGETABLE GARDEN FENCE KIT
REF. 125710
• Attach the fence energizer to a wall, near a 230V mains socket. Drive the
earth rod into the ground and connect it to the energizer (to the black earth
terminal). Connect the fence to the energizer with the power wire (red wire
and terminal). Next, plug the energizer into the mains. Your fence is now
electrified. The energizer is a dual model. This means you can also connect
it to a 12V battery (sold separately) if you do not have a 230V mains power
supply nearby.
Please read the instructions for the fence energizer
included in this kit.
• The earth of your energizer must be positioned more than 10m away from
any other earthing systems, such as those for the electricity grid or the tel-
ecommunications network. You must never connect your energizer to any
earthing system that is not specially dedicated to it. The earth rod must be
planted in damp soil so that its entire height is covered.
CREATING A GATEWAY
You can create a gateway in your fence. To do this, place a post on either
side of the gateway. Attach the tape to the closed metallic end of the handle,
then stretch the tape over to the other side of the gateway in order to attach
the handle with the anchor insulator. To open the gate, simply grab the handle
and unhook it.
