Nautica Configuration Wizard Reference Guide
Path Types
The path type shows the protocol that is used to send information
along the path. Nautica Wizard supports the following path types,
click on the Path name to see more details for that path type.
Ethernet (LAN01)
Point to Point Protocol (PPP)
Nautica (Nautica Routers only)
RFC1490 (frame relay)
Ethernet (LAN01)
Nautica Wizard displays the Ethernet path as LAN01 in the Paths
Table.
LAN01 is the path that points to the local network. All Nautica
routers have a path called LAN01. It is system generated and,
while its parameters can be modified, the path cannot be removed
from any of the tables.
For details on the parameters available on the LAN01 path, refer
to
page 3-11
.
Point to Point Protocol (PPP)
PPP paths are the most common type of path used on a router. On
Nautica routers, PPP paths are generally used to connect to
non-Nautica routers, or into remote routers where extra security
or bandwidth options are required.
For details on PPP path parameters, refer to
Chapter 4
.
