Installation personnel
Throughout this manual, the terms SERVICE PERSONNEL and TRAINED PERSONNEL refers to persons having appropriate tech-
nical training and experience necessary to be knowledgeable of potential hazards to which they are exposed (including, but not
limited to HIGH VOLTAGE ELECTRIC and ELECTRONIC CIRCUITRY) in performing a task, and of measures to minimize the po-
tential risk to themselves or other persons.
The term INFORMED PERSONNEL refers to any person, other than SERVICE PERSONNEL or TRAINED PERSONNEL, who has
been informed of potential hazards they are exposed to in performing a task and has appropriate training and experience to install
the mechanical aspects of the R-Series products and install the necessary amount of cables by means of the provided connectors,
WITHOUT opening the R-Series products nor exposing himself to any form of hazards (including, but not limited to HIGH VOLTAGE
ELECTRIC and ELECTRONIC CIRCUITRY).
The installation of the standard version of the R-Series products must be performed by authorized and TRAINED PERSONNEL only.
For installation sites who are unable to provide suf
fi
cient trained personnel, Barco can provide a variant of the R-Series products
which can be installed by INFORMED PERSONNEL as well.
Accredited SAFETY OFFICERS must ensure the safety of the site, construction, assembly, connection, use, dismantling, transport
etc. of safety critical systems.
Notice on safety
This equipment is built in accordance with the requirements of the international safety standards IEC60950-1, EN60950-1,
UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, which are the safety standards of information technology equipment including
electrical business equipment. These safety standards impose important requirements on the use of safety critical components,
materials and insulation, in order to protect the user or operator against risk of electric shock and energy hazard and having access
to live parts. Safety standards also impose limits to the internal and external temperature rises, radiation levels, mechanical stability
and strength, enclosure construction and protection against the risk of
fi
re. Simulated single fault condition testing ensures the
safety of the equipment to the user even when the equipment’s normal operation fails.
Caution
Installation should be performed only after you are thoroughly familiar with all of the proper safety checks and installation instructions.
To do otherwise increases the risk of hazards and injury to the user.
Do not modify and/or replicate any component. Barco uses speci
fi
c materials and manufacturing processes in order to achieve part
strength. Consult Barco for assistance with custom applications.
Always follow Barco installation instructions. Contact Barco if you should have any question regarding the safety of an application.
