2.1 General functionality
Introduction
The Ambient Environment Controller (AEC) is a device containing four light sensors. The AEC satellite contains only one light
sensor in total. This sensors are used to measure the ambient environment. The control of the AEC is integrated into the software
of the XLite Toolset Software (See User Guide XLite Toolset). AEC’s have been specially developed to be integratable to any tile
bordering a display or even within the display, dependent on the circumstances and facilities available. Single or multiple AEC’s may
be incorporated to a DLite Display, measuring the environmental light conditions through out the day.
The modular concept of the AEC gives rise to configurations with maximum flexibility and controllability. Screen dimensions of any
desirable configuration can be rapidly incorporated with an AEC network. The built-in intelligence of the XLite Toolset Software
allows the system to detect and configure itself regardless the shape and size of the display and position of the AEC modules.
The mechanical flexibility enables easy installation and quick servicing. The AEC Satellite, which contains one sensor in a separated
small housing, allows even more flexibility. AEC modules are only to be used in conjunction with BARCO DLite or ILite Modules.
Each AEC is assigned a certain representative weighting percentage, dependent on it’s relevance. This percentage weighting can
even be assigned individually to each of the four light sensors. Then a weighted average is calculated from all measurements, the
software will instigate a response according to a given reaction slope. The reaction slope determining the time of response to filter
out peaks within light measurements. The light output of the display will change accordingly to the value which the AEC is calibrated
at. The whole display or just selected portions of the display may be programmed to react.
