Centre position
We recommend that you maintain a substantial layer of ash (2 - 3 cm). This not only
forms a protective layer for the base of the appliance but also signifi cantly reduces
consumption of fuel and allows new wood to catch light easier.
When loading the appliance with fuel, two blocks measuring ca. 15 cm long and 25 cm
ê
perimeter is suffi cient. Only load again when the last fl ames have disappeared. This
is after approximately 45 minutes. Do not leave the door open longer than necessary.
The maximum amount of fuel specifi ed in this manual should not be exceeded,
overloading can cause excess smoke and damage to the appliance.
5.3.2 Burning coal or briquetted smokeless fuels *)
After approx. 1 hour after starting the fi re, stir the fi rebed with a suitable poke and reload
with approx. 1 kg of coal or smokeless fuel briquettes. Keep the air slider in the far right
position (fully open).
The maximum amount of fuel specifi ed in this manual should not be exceeded, overloa-
ding can cause excess smoke and damage to the appliance
5.3.3 Additional remarks
Refuelling on to a low fi re bed.
If there is insuffi cient burning material in the fi rebed to light a new fuel charge,
excessive smoke emision can occur. Refuelling must be carried out onto a suffi cient
quantity of glowing embers and ash that the new fuel charge will ignite in a reasonable
period. If there are too few embers in the fi rebed, add suitable kindling to prevent
excessive smoke.
Weather conditions
In order to reduce pollution and any other inconvenience, we advise not fi ring up the
appliance when there is no wind, or in foggy/misty conditions.
*) To burn coal or briquetted smokeless fuels the appliance must be equipped with a
multi-fuel kit
