Installation

1.

Place piston rod of the pneumatic cylinder in the

desired position.

2.

Move the sensor in the T-slot until the area in which the

yellow LED remains consistently on is detected.

Fix sensor in the middle of this switching range.

3.

Use a 2 mm Allen key or No. 2 screwdriver to affix the

sensor in the middle of the switching area.

4.

Optional: Attach protective shield to sensor body.

5.

Use cable clip to fix cable in the slot.

Startup

  DANGER

Uncontrolled system movement

When starting up, if the sensor is part of a closed loop
system whose parameters have not yet been set, the
system may perform uncontrolled movements. This could
result in personal injury and equipment damage.

Persons must keep away from the system’s hazar-
dous zones.

Startup must be performed only by trained technical
personnel.

Observe the safety instructions of the equipment or
system manufacturer.

1.

Check connections for tightness and correct polarity.

Replace damaged connections.

2.

Turn on the system.

3.

Check measured values and adjustable parameters

and readjust the BMF if necessary.

Check for the correct values, especially after

replacing the BMF or after repair by the manu-

facturer.

Operating notes

  CAUTION

Elevated housing temperature

If the installation does not provide sufficient thermal
coupling, the surface temperature of the BMF may rise to
over 50 °C and cause burns when touched.

Improve the thermal coupling of the installation.

Reduce the load.

Do not touch the surface.

–  Regularly check function of the BMF and all associated

components.

–  Take the BMF out of service whenever there is a mal-

function.

–  Secure the system against unauthorized use.
–  Check fasteners and re-tighten if needed.

–  The sensor features overload protection. After the

overload is eliminated, the sensor is once again func-

tional.
